Units 1&2 SACs

The Psyched SACs are designed to assess students’ knowledge and skills from the current VCE Units 1&2 Psychology Study Design. All Psyched SACs comply with VCAA’s SAC requirements, as stated in the Study Design.

  • Unit 1 SAC 1: 30 marks Short Answer – analysis and evaluation of an experiment or case study
  • Unit 1 SAC 2: 30 marks (20 marks Short Answer, 10 marks Extended Response) – media analysis of one or more contemporary media texts*
  • Unit 1 SAC 3: 40 marks of structured questions (30 marks Short Answer, 10 marks Extended Response) – a response to an investigation into contemporary psychological research and how science can be used to explore and validate psychological research questions**
  • Unit 2 SAC 1: 30 marks (20 marks Short Answer, 10 marks Extended Response) – analysis and evaluation of an experiment or case study***
  • Unit 2 SAC 2: 30 marks Short Answer – reflective annotations of a logbook of practical activities
  • Unit 2 SAC 3: advice for how to complete the scientific investigation – a report of a student-adapted or student-designed scientific investigation using a selected format, such as a scientific poster, an article for a scientific publication, a practical report, an oral presentation, a multimedia presentation or a visual representation****

Unit 1 SACs will be published by the second Monday of February each year.

Unit 2 SACs will be published by the first Monday of June each year.

Unit 1 Exam and Unit 2 Exam [also formatted as a combined Units 1&2 Exam]

The Psyched Units 1&2 Exams aim to rigorously draw upon students’ knowledge and skills across Units 1&2.

  • Unit 1 Exam: 80 marks (35 marks MCQs, 35 marks Short Answer, 10 marks Extended Response)
  • Unit 2 Exam: 80 marks (35 marks MCQs, 35 marks Short Answer, 10 marks Extended Response)
  • Units 1&2 Exam (a compilation from the Unit 1 exam and Unit 2 exam): 120 marks (40 marks MCQs, 70 marks Short Answer, 10 marks Extended Response)

The Unit 1/Unit 2/combined Units 1&2 Exams will be published by the second Monday of May each year.

Units 3&4 SACs

The Psyched SACs are designed to assess students’ knowledge and skills from the current VCE Units 3&4 Psychology Study Design. All Psyched SACs comply with VCAA’s SAC requirements, as stated in the Study Design.

  • Unit 3 SAC 1 Nervous system/stress: 40 marks Short Answer – analysis and evaluation of at least one psychological case study, experiment, model or simulation
  • Unit 3 SAC 2 Learning and Memory: 40 marks Short Answer – comparison and evaluation of psychological concepts, methodologies and methods, and findings from three student practical activities
  • Unit 4 SAC 1 Sleep: 40 marks (30 marks Short Answer, 10 marks Extended Response) – analysis and evaluation of generated primary and/or collated secondary data 
  • Unit 4 SAC 2 Mental wellbeing: 40 marks (30 marks Short Answer, 10 marks Extended Response) – analysis and comparison of two or more contemporary media texts
  • Unit 4 SAC 3 Scientific poster: advice for how to complete the scientific poster – 10 pages of guidance including sample topics, step-by-step instructions for students, and marking advice.

Unit 3 SACs will be published by the second Monday of February each year.

Unit 4 SACs will be published by the first Monday of June each year.

Unit 3 Trial Exams

The Unit 3 Trial Exams are designed to help students revise their knowledge and skill as they progress through the year.

  • 80 marks: 35 marks MCQs, 35 marks Short Answer, 10 marks Extended Response

The Unit 3 Trial Exam will be published by the second Monday of May each year.

Units 3&4 Trial Exams

The Psyched Units 3&4 Trial Exams aim to rigorously draw upon students’ knowledge and skills across Units 3&4.

  • 120 marks: 40 marks MCQs, 70 marks Short Answer, 10 marks Extended Response

The Units 3&4 Trial Exam will be published by the third Monday of August each year.

Units 3&4 Topic Tests

New for 2026, the Psyched Topic Tests aim to gradually test students’ knowledge throughout the year.

  • Unit 3 Topic Tests: four tests (two per Outcome) with 10 MCQs and 15 marks Short Answer each
  • Unit 4 Topic Tests: six tests (two per Outcome) with 10 MCQs and 15 marks Short Answer each

The Unit 3 Topic Tests will be published by the second Monday of February, while the Unit 4 Topic Tests will be published by the first Monday of June.
